Reporting to the ECB on the quality of external statistics

The assessment of the quality of data in the field of external statistics is performed in accordance with the ECB Statistics Quality Framework and includes a regular report by the Executive Board to the Governing Council of the ECB. Data quality monitoring is considered essential and should be carried out in a timely manner. 

The Guideline (EU) 2020/1554 provides for a change in the frequency of reporting. The frequency foreseen for reporting on the quality of external statistics will be extended to a biennial reporting period. In order to allow for quality analysis, the Executive Board shall submit its first biennial quality report following the adoption of this Guideline to the Governing Council by the end of 2022.
