EU-Taxonomie: COMMISSION BEGINS EXPERT CONSULTATIONS

EU Taxonomy: Commission begins expert consultations on Complementary Delegated Act covering certain nuclear and gas activities

The European Commission has consulted with the Member States Expert Group on Sustainable Finance and the Sustainable Finance Platform on a draft complementary delegated act on the taxonomy covering certain gas and nuclear activities.

The EU taxonomy is designed to guide and mobilise private investment in activities needed to achieve climate neutrality over the next 30 years. The current energy mix in Europe varies from one Member State to another. Some parts of Europe are still heavily based on coal with high carbon emissions. The taxonomy provides for energy activities that allow Member States to move towards climate neutrality from such different positions.

The EU taxonomy is a solid, science-based transparency tool for companies and investors. It creates a common language that investors can use when investing in projects and economic activities that have significant positive impacts on the climate and the environment. It will also introduce disclosure requirements for companies and financial market participants.
