Second edition of the data quality report
ESMA sees improvement in EMIR and SFTR data quality through coordinated actionESMA published the second edition of its data quality report on 01/04/2022, based on data collected under the EMIR regulation and the Securitized Financial Transactions Regulation (SFTR).
The report provides an analysis of data quality for regulatory and supervisory purposes and concludes that coordinated supervisory actions by ESMA and national competent authorities have significantly improved data quality in 2021.
ESMA's analysis shows that despite these very positive results, certain aspects related to data reconciliation require further efforts by reporting entities. In particular, the report suggests that data quality could be improved if counterparties used the same data set and identifiers for the reported data in their internal risk management processes.
