Risks for exports to Greece are marketable again

Decision of EU Commission

Due to the economic crisis in Greece, for a long time there was a lack of private credit insurance or reinsurance capacity to cover exports to Greece. The Commission therefore removed Greece in 2013 from the list of countries with marketable risks .

After several extensions, the Commission has now announced that Greece will be re-included in the list from 01.01.2020 onwards.

According to point 13 of the Commission's Communication on short-term export-credit insurance, state insurers will no longer be allowed to offer short-term export-credit insurances, as these risks are officially marketable again.
