Not all data are created equal - Data sharing and privacy

DNB has published working paper

De Nederlansche Bank published the working paper "Not all data are created equal - Data sharing and privacy" by Michiel Bijlsmaa, Carin van der Cruijsen and Nicole Jonker.

In it, they found that in addition to health data, people are reluctant to share their financial data about payments, assets and pensions, compared with other types of consumer data. In addition, they said, consumers are particularly wary of sharing their data unless it is used anonymously. Consumers are also more hesitant to share their data with BigTechs, web stores and insurers than with banks. Here, however, a financial reward may encourage consumers to share their data.
