ESMA publishes report on 2021


ESMA has published its report on Corporate Reporting Enforcement and Regulation 2021. ESMA makes recommendations to issuers and auditors to improve future financial and non-financial reporting by assessing how issuers are complying with IFRS and non-financial reporting requirements and following ESMA's recommendations.

Key figures from the report:

  • 711 audits of financial statements prepared in accordance with IFRS were conducted. The audits resulted in enforcement actions against 250 issuers to correct material deviations from IFRS;
  • 537 management reports were audited to assess whether APM presentation and disclosure complied with ESMA's APM Guidelines. Based on these reviews, enforcement actions were taken with respect to 97 issuers and
  • European enforcement officers audited non-financial statements of 711 issuers. Related enforcement actions were completed against 72 issuers.
